Privacy policy
How we handle your information
Effective October 16, 2026
The short version
- On this website, we collect only what you type into our forms, plus anonymous, cookie-free page-view counts.
- We never sell your information or your child’s, and we don’t use it for advertising.
- In the app, only a parent or guardian can create an account, after giving consent. Camera and microphone are off by default.
- Your child’s play data helps build our models of child development only if you separately opt in. The app works the same either way, and you can opt out at any time.
- You can ask us to see, export or delete your information at any time by emailing jasjeev@levian.health.
Who we are
Levian Health (“Levian”, “we”, “us”) builds play-based learning tools for young children and their families. This policy covers the website at levian.health and our app. Questions go to jasjeev@levian.health.
This website
Forms. When you join the family waitlist or contact us, we collect what you enter: your email address and, if you choose to give them, your name, organization, role, your child’s age range, the device you have at home, and any note you write. We also record which page the form was on. We use this only to reply to you, invite you to try the app, and send occasional updates about it.
Analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and see which pages are useful. It doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t identify individual visitors.
Cookies. This website doesn’t set cookies of its own. Fonts are served by Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when it delivers them.
Children. The website is meant for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children through it. The waitlist asks a parent for their child’s age range, not the child’s name or any other details about the child.
The app
The app is designed for children ages 3 to 8, used with a parent or guardian’s permission. We follow the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
- Parental consent first. Only a parent or guardian can create an account, after reading and agreeing to a plain-language consent summary. We don’t collect a child’s information before that.
- The minimum about your child. A nickname and birth month. Never a surname, school, photo or location.
- Play data. How activities go, such as answers, timing and tracing paths. We use it to choose the right activities, show you your child’s strengths and suggestions, and let you know if a skill may need a closer look. If you opt in, we also use it to build our models, as described below.
- Camera and microphone are off by default. Every activity works without them. If you turn them on, they’re used only during activities that need them, features are computed on the device, and you can switch them off or delete recordings at any time.
- Security. Data is encrypted on the device. Crash reports carry no child identifiers and no screenshots.
- No ads, no tracking. The app has no advertising, no third-party analytics and no in-app purchases.
- Sharing with clinicians. Nothing is shared with a clinician or anyone else unless you choose to share it.
Building our models of child development
Our long-term goal is to build computational models of how children develop, sometimes called “synthetic brains”, that can help tell when development is on track, why it may not be, and what is likely to help. Building them takes play data from many children over time. Here is how we handle that:
- Only with your separate consent. Contributing to model building is a separate choice from creating an account. It is off unless you turn it on, and saying no doesn’t change anything about how the app works for your child.
- What we use. Play data, such as answers, timing, tracing paths and the developmental indicators computed from them, along with your child’s age in months. We never use your child’s nickname, your name, your email or anything else that identifies your family.
- De-identified first. Before play data is used for model building, it is separated from your account and identifiers and given a random code.
- No raw camera or microphone recordings. Recordings are never used to build our models. If you’ve turned on the camera or microphone, only features computed on the device, like how long a sound was held, can be included, and only if you opt in.
- Kept inside Levian. We don’t sell this data or give it to other companies to build their own products. Outside researchers can only work with it under a written agreement, an approved research protocol and the same protections described here.
- You can change your mind. Turn it off in the app or email us, and we will stop using your child’s data for model building and remove it from the data we train on. Models already trained learn general patterns across many children and can’t be traced back to an individual child, so they won’t be retrained just to remove one child’s contribution.
- Not a diagnosis. Our models are research tools. Anything they suggest about a child is shared with parents only in the same careful, plain-language way as the rest of the app, and is never a diagnosis.
Who we share information with
We never sell personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run Levian, under contracts that limit their use of it to providing their service to us: Vercel (website hosting and analytics) and Supabase (database). We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep waitlist and contact details until you ask us to remove them or we no longer need them to contact you. We keep app data for as long as the account is active, and delete it when a parent deletes it or closes the account.
Your choices and rights
- See, export or correct the information we hold about you or your child.
- Delete it, or withdraw consent for your child’s data to be collected or used for model building, at any time. Parents can do this in the app or by email.
- Unsubscribe from emails by replying or using the link in any email.
To make a request, email jasjeev@levian.health. We’ll reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws; we honor those requests too.
Research
Formal research studies, such as validating our measures against established clinical tests, will each have their own consent form and ethical review. Your child’s data is never used in a study unless you separately agree to that study. This is in addition to the model-building choice above.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above. If a change affects how we use children’s information, we’ll ask parents for consent again before it applies.
